Housing is big problem in Milwaukee. We’re finally working together to fix it.

In an exceptional effort of unity, the Milwaukee County Board and Milwaukee Common Council have formed a joint Housing Committee. Currently, they are developing the parameters of a working relationship and will have the committee functional by June.

This did not just happen overnight. It is the result of three years of meetings and persistent effort by local leaders and residents of more than 40 area organizations working with representatives in county and city government.

Housing is a critical issue in our community. The ability of all residents to choose and afford where they live without fear of losing their home in the future is essential to a thriving metropolitan area. Likewise, people and families require a secure and stable address to obtain jobs, receive benefits, register for schools, and access all the other workings of a healthy society.
